Eat Cake!

This was the other card we did at my party Saturday night. I liked how this one turned out. Next time I might try embossing with sparkly embossing powder. I was trying to keep this looking "manly"-and you know sometimes glitter takes that image away. We used Print pattern background with versa-mark on Choc. chip, then the Itty Bitty Background to make the Ballet Blue look patterned too. We used the Gable Green to complement the blues and browns. Then finished it off with a satin ribbon, and the designer label punch and oval punch with happy birthday set off by brads. We had a work day at school to make up for one of our two snow days we've had this year- it was a nice way to unwind with friends after working all week.

Party last night!

We had fun stamping at my class last night. These are two of the Valentine's projects we made. We used the Happy Heart Day SU set, and ribbon that came with the bundle! The box is really easy and can be folded two ways. The measurements are 8 1/2 x 81/2 then score at 2 3/4 all the way around and then again on the diaginal so the corners can fold in. Then use brads to secure the layers, using the crop-a-dile.

Lovely as a Tree Birthday

I have found for me it is much harder to make masculine cards, when I need to have one "right now" than if I play around and experiment ahead of time! I like how this turned out. I haven't used this set nearly enough. It has so many possiblilities. I used Choc. Chip craft ink and clear embossing powder for the trees, then I went back and "daubbered" them with Always Artichoke and Old Olive, and Ballet Blue for the sky. I water colored the ground with Old Olive. Then, I used a sponge and softened the colors out. Next I used Choc. Chip for the edges with the sponge. I find that this applies the ink better on the edges without creating "drag wear" on my ink pads. Has anyone else noticed that? I used brads and the wide Choc. grossgrain ribbon between the River Rock paper and the rest of the card. Hope you like it!

Still playing with butterflies

I am still playing with my butterfly set. I used Embrace Life from the new Stampin' Up catalog, and also my favorite color combination- Certianly Celery and Almost Amethyst. I also added some Soft Sky paper to mat the stem on, and sponged the background with Soft Sky also. I colored the stem's leaves with Certianly Celery, and the butterfly with Almost Amethyst, and then added crystal effects on the stem, leaves, and butterfly to add more texture and raise it up.

I used the versa mark to make a background using the flower and stems from the Embrace Life set also. The bottom band was pierced to make that faux stitched look. The butterfly is raised up on dimensionals as well.

Hope you like it, Happy Stamping!

Beautiful snowy day

Today was a beautiful snowy day here in Barrow, Alaska! The sun technically comes back up over the horrizon the 24th @ 1:20pm. We are looking forward to that!

Back yard snowball fights!

Is it spring yet?

Wow! Talk about extreems! This Tuesday it was -70 degrees and we had a blackout- then today it's 30 above! We played out with the kids for a little while there was enough light to be inviting. I made this card using a butterfly from a Close to My Heart set, called Celebrate Life. I colored it in with Appricot Appeal, and mounted it on Summer Sun, (Can you tell I am thinking about warmer weather?) I used Old Olive and Close to Cocoa, and Doodle swirl jumbo wheel for the background. I had fun making it, I suppose that's what counts! Hope ya like it.

Valentine's box of goodies

This is a cute box I made at my friend Laurie's. I was glad to have a real hands on tutorial. Now it seems really easy. I saw this example on her blog and couldn't wait to try it! We used the new BoHo Background set from SU and the scallop punch, and new felt flowers, and a brad from the pretties kit, along with new designer paper and purely pomegranite double stitched ribbon.

Happy Heart Day

I have seen so many cute things done with this set, that I rushed through mounting it so I could play with it! This is the first thing I came up with during our -69 degree weather and our power outage yesterday. Talk about a crazy day. It puts things into perspective though. School and everything was cancelled so we had a safe day at home. I used Old Olive for the base of this card, and then the Regal Rose Ribbon and paper, I used dazzling diamonds over crystal effects for the heart and butterfly, and also some non SU Designer paper.

Mug card 1

This is using Holidays and Wishes SU set. I used non-su patterned paper, and then close to cocoa for the solid base. Thanks for looking! I may have this pattern available for my customers at my next party. It reminds me of keeping warm!

Embrace Life

Last night was soooo cold here, more than fourty below zero! I am looking forward to spring and colors again! I was just tinkering around with this stamp set. I was not totally pleased with this card, but it took so long to do- maybe it just needed to be done, so I could move on!

I used Embrace Life, Rose Red, Regal Rose, and a white brad from the Pretties kit for the center. Suggestions?

My awesome sister!

I recieved this wonderful surprise from my Sister for Christmas. What can I say? She is so talented, and runs circles around me scraping too! I am truly blessed to have a sister with similar interests! Some of you my not realize my husband and I live in a very rural area in Alaska above the Arctic Circle, so we are somewhat islolated. It means so much to have family and friends think of us, and to know we still have those contacts outside of this villiage!

Anyhow, this is going to be my favorite Christmas decoration to put up next year!

My wonderful daughter!

My wonderful daughter who's seven, made me a chocolate cake for my birthday...with chocolate frosting, and then a whole bag of m&m's... what a sweet heart!

Penguin Birthday

My little Nephew turns two soon, and I wanted to do a fun card for him. My DH found this for me for Christmas this year, and this was my first time playing with Polar Pals! I am really going to like this one! I used torn paper for the "ice" and sponged it to shade the colors. There are also snowflakes embossed with hologram highlights ep that are hard to see! I was bummed that Christmas was over, but I am finding my mojo in other areas again. Christmas is my favorite though!

Valentines Treat Bag

This is a treat bag made from an envelope! I used the Love Matters set in last year's mini, Simply Said, and Everyday Flexible Phrases. It is about the size of a package of hot chocolate. These are really easy to make, just seal the envelope shut, then score 1/4 inch twice on both sides and the bottom. Cut the top off using the cutter, decorative sissors, or punch to create scallops and then fold in, gluing the tabs on the bottoms to create a "bag" or pouch. I used red stickles of course to dot the flowers : )
